My Hostgator Review - The best affordable hosting

A lot of people always ask about HostGator and what they can and cannot host with them, if they are a realible web hosting company so on and so forth.

Well, heres my review!

I currently have 8 websites hosted with them and I have never once had downtime in the entire 6 months i have been with them, which was a surprise to me since most hosts have a little down time every now and then.

I had a bad experience with santrex hosting which made me move all of my sites over to hostgator. When i first signed up to HostGator i had 4 of my sites hosted and was testing the waters with a small hosting company called santrex.

Santrex was the biggest waste of money ever, my sites all loaded slow, their support ticket system was almost non-existant and when they did reply, they would tell me to google the problem, even though the problem was with their server, not a problem with the scripts i installed.

Never, ever go with a small hosting company. The support was shocking, everyone says all smaller hosts have time for you, well guess what? They do not in my experience.

HostGator on the other hand has around the clock live support. You know unlike some places, they don’t just treat it as their job, they activly try to help you with your problem in a proactive manner.

I’m quite happy with HostGator and i will be hosting my sites with them for a very longtime.

This is often a question that pops up on every web hosting forum.

Everyone is looking for the best deal. I mean come on right? Who in their right mind would just splash cash around when they can nine times out of ten find a better deal.

Sites that offer you unlimited resources, are they good?

It all depends on what kind of site you are wanting to host and what kind of hosting package you have purchased.

Lets say for instance, you bought hosting somewhere and chose a ‘Hatchling’ or ‘Baby’ package and you wanted to host:

a downloads site, file sharing site, movie streaming site.

If all those mp3’s and files are hosted on your own hosting account . You should expect an email from them or account termination due to using too much resources.

If you are wanting to host a resource intensive website, I think its best you stay clear of a small hosting packages and move onto a vps or a dedicated server since most hosts will not keep you around for long without terminating your account.

Why would they do that?

It’s a marketing strategy when they tell you it’s unlimited resources. Since most people who buy those ‘unlimited’ hosting packages do not have intentions of hosting huge resource intensive websites. So in a sense, it is ‘unlimited’ if you catch my drift.

What about sites like hostgator?

Hostgator are very reasonable.

You can host forums, wordpress blogs, landing pages and anything along those lines without and issues on their cost effective hosting packages such as the Hatchling and Baby package.

Where is this blog hosted at?

I’m one of the biggest critics when it comes to hosts who claim to offer you unlimited bandwidth and hard drive space.

I’ve tried many hosting sites, purely to see if they are what everyone cranks them up to be and the sad honest truth, most left me disappointed. The thing that upset me the most was my so-called-friends were the ones who told me about them in the first place!

I’ve been with hostgator for over 6 months now without any problems, no site loading lag, i have multiple sites hosted with them including this new blog.

Hostgator without a doubt is the best hosting company for novice and even for the experienced webmaster.

My number one choice by far!
